More of a hobby I have recently picked up is shooting on film. Having started an old collection of film cameras a few years ago, I have always been fascinated by film photography. The way light reacts and colours blend differently to digital cameras has always been something that intrigues me. I am not to afraid to admit that putting my first roll of film into my Pentax MESuper was very intimidating, but I am so glad that I did as it breathed a new air into photography for me. The whole process of film is extremely rewarding and is essential for learing more about how a camera functions. I have already noticed a significant increase in speed and confidnce in which I can change my cameras exposure setting to adjust to different lighting. And when your working in sports photography, these seconds saved are absolutely vital.
Due to the look, feel and experience of film photography I have decided to shoot all my personal (family, friends etc) content on film moving forwards. This gives a deeper meaning to events and what you as a person decide to take photographs of, instead of the relentless snapping of every moment on a digital or phone camera (which of course has it’s benefits but greatly reduces the impact your photographs can have).
